Bill completed a thirty-year career as an Electronics Engineer/Manager for the Federal Aviation Administration before pursuing a new career as an artist. He has devoted his full attention to painting since his retirement in 1992.

Bill works primarily in watercolor, using various paper supports and techniques. He attempts to capture the Southern Landscape and people in his work.

He has won numerous awards in juried, regional, national and international competitions. Most recently he has won awards in the following organizations: Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Texas Watercolor Society, Mississippi Watercolor Society, Kentucky Watercolor Society, Watercolor Society of Houston, Alabama Watercolor Society, Southern Watercolor Society, and the Tennessee Watercolor Society.

He was selected as a “one to watch” by
Watercolor Artist Magazine in 2012.

He has attained signature membership status in Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Southern Watercolor Societies.

Bill’s art education has been primarily acquired through studies at the University of Memphis and participation in painting workshops with prominent teachers, eg. John Salminen, Cheng-Khee Chee, Frank Webb, and Judi Betts.
